Lilly Ajarova the Executive Director of the Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary has been named as the new Executive Director of the Uganda Tourism Board.
Minister of State for Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities Hon Godfred Kiwanda Suubi made the announcement on Thursday.
“The Ministry is confident that Lilly Ajarova had the right qualifications and experience to steer UTB and the country’s tourism sector into greater heights,” Hon Kiwanda said at an event held at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters.
The Minister also unveiled Robbster Ochieng as the Deputy Chief Executive of Uganda Tourism Board.
The two have been appointed after a restructuring process that UTB was undergoing which saw many of the former employees being laid off.
Ajarova previously worked with the Uganda Wildlife Authority as the Director of Tourism and Business Development.
She is a Member on the Advisory Committee of Pan African Sanctuary Alliance which is developed policies for 22 sanctuaries in 13 African countries.
Ajarova also served on the Committee Chairperson on the Uganda Tourism Board which directed the developmnet, implementation of quality assurance, grading and classification of hotels in Uganda.
she was also lately awarded the prestigious National Golden Jubilee Award, Tourism Excellence Award and Wildlife Conservation Award.
Robbster Ochieng has been serving as the Director of Corporate affairs at the Public Procurement and Disposalof Public Assets Authority.
