Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of Special Operations, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has slammed FDC top shot Dr Kizza Besigye for attacking the senior army officer’s wife, Charlotte Muhoozi.
This is the first time Muhoozi is speaking out after Besigye accused Charlotte’s company, Silverbacks Pharmaceuticals Ltd, of supplying an oxygen plant to Mulago National Referral Hospital at an inflated rate.
Silverbacks yesterday dismissed Besigye’s accusations, saying the cost variation was caused by the exchange rate differences and air freight as this was an emergency procurement.
Apparently offended by Besigye’s attacks, Muhoozi this Sunday took to Twitter to defend his wife.
“Colonel Besigye, were you a ‘Royal’ when you came with Mzee Museveni in 1985 to our home in Sweden?” said Muhoozi in response to Besigye’s social media post describing Charlotte as ‘NRM/Junta royals’.
“You are one of our elders, and we respect you as an elder,” said Muhoozi.
“If you want to attack me, I’m right here. Leave my wife alone,” he emphasized.
Muhoozi’s Tweets prompted a flurry of comments, with some in agreement with his statement.

“Our elder colonel Besigye … we respect u so much … but an attack to general Muhoozi kainerugaba and his family … the generational leader is an attack to us the youth who decisively support him… respect him as he does,” said Gilbert Mugabe on Twitter.
Museveni, a rebel leader, went to visit his family in Sweden in 1985 as he prepared for the final assault on Kampala.
The development comes at a time of heated presidential election campaigns.
