City lawyer Hassan Kassim Male Mabirizi has dragged former presidential press secretary Joseph Tamale Mirundi to court accusing him of defamation.
In the case before High Court, Mabirizi says Mirundi wrongfully accused him of being fronted by Internal Affairs Minster Hon Sam Kuteesa, who Mirundi claims has an ambition of becoming the next Speaker of Parliament.
Mabirizi says these accusations which Mirundi made last Saturday on one of the local radio stations were “baseless” and wants him to be compelled by court to retract them.
On top of that, Mabirizi wants court to order Mirundi not to engage his name ever again while on any media platform.
He is also seeking damages and costs for this application
“I sent him a text message to retract his defamatory statement but he didn’t respond” Mabirizi remarked.
Mirundi’s alleged comments came days after Mr Mabirizi filed a case in court seeking nullification of Parliament’s resolution requiring government to provide a loan guarantee for the investor intending to put up a specialized hospital at Lubowa.
Mirundi has been given 15 days within which he has to defend himself on the matter
Responding to this court case on Monday revealed that nobody can threaten him and he is ready to continue doing his programs.
