Lawyers under their umbrella body of Uganda Law Society have elected new executives to steer the organization for a year.

Peter Kinobe of KMT Advocates as its new President replacing Francis
According to a statement issued by the professional body, Mr Kinobe defeated his only rival and also the outgoing Vice President, Alice Namuli Blazevic with a landslide victory of 760 votes against 268 and the former was eventually declared the winner.
Meanwhile, Pheona Nabasa Wall has become the Vice President with 700
votes defeating Mike Okua who garnered 324 votes.
Ms Nabasa served in the outgoing cabinet as Honorary Secretary.
Aaron Besigye is the newly elected ULS Treasurer with 637 votes and Goddy Muhumuza who got 375 votes while invalid votes were 18.
Francis Harimwomugasho was elected unopposed as the Honorary Secretary of the society which has four main objectives of promoting members’ professional development and ethical conduct, ensuring access to justice for indigent, marginalized and vulnerable persons in Uganda, contributing to upholding and promoting the rule of law in Uganda and strengthen the institutional capacity of the body to become a modern Bar Association.
The Council Representative for Central Region is now Anne Karungi who
scored 464, defeating Robert Irumba with 333 and Richard Bogere Senkaaba with 209.
She is replacing Mr. Kinobe who has become the society’s president.
Ms. Shamim Amolo maintained her position as the Council Representative
for Northern Uganda unopposed.
Samson Enoch Kyabakaya was also elected unopposed as the Eastern
Region Council Representative replacing Jacob Osillo and Henry Ampurire Kamparo became Western Region’s representative.
