The Church of Uganda joined the people of Lango sub-region in mourning the passing of Lango Diocese’s First Bishop, Rev. Melchizedek Otim.
Bishop (Emeritus) Otim passed away on Wednesday at Mulago Heart Institute.
Church of Uganda Provincial secretary, Rev. Canon William Ogeng in a condolence message encouraged the family to read from John (3:18), a scripture which the late Bishop used to refer to many times.
Many leaders from Lango sub-region including UPC President, Jimmy Akena described the late Bishop as a committed servant of God who served his time diligently.
The late Bishop is survived by 8 children and a widow, Joyce Otim
According to a tentative burial arrangement seen by our reporter, the late Bishop will be laid to rest on the 20th October at All saints Cathedral, Boro-boro.
Born in 1934, Otim was appointed and ordained the Pioneer Bishop of Lango diocese in 1976, by the late Bishop Janaan Luwum, Bishop of Church of Uganda.
He served for 25 years until the year 2000 when he retired.
