Uganda won by 6 wickets
Uganda women Cricket team under the guidance of Grace Mutyaba continued to flourish with sparks of brilliance in Windhoek, Namibia.
The Lady Cricket Cranes managed to defeat Kenya by 6 wickets with 26 balls to spare, the 3rd win following victories against Namibia and Tanzania.
The victory has taken Uganda on top of the 5 team table at the 2017 ICC African Women’s World T20 Qualifier in Windhoek.
Speaking after the game, Vice-Captain, Janet Mbabazi who plays for Wanderers said: “I feel good for this win because we have put up a good fight. “We worked today as a team and it’s this unity that has made us look like we have an extra person on the oval.”
The game against Kenya started brilliantly for the Lady Cricket Cranes when they won the toss and elected to field, Kenya was dismissed for 58 with Quentoor Abel scoring 24 runs.
Targeting only 58 runs from 20 overs, Gertrude Candiru once again delivered when she knocked an unbeaten 11 off 22 balls as Uganda successfully chased the target in 15.4 overs to win by 6 wickets.
In the other game of the day, Zimbabwe 125/8 swept aside Tanzania 53/5, winning by 72 runs.
No games are scheduled on Monday (rest day), the tournament is set to return on Tuesday with Zimbabwe in action against Kenya, Hosts Namibia will play Tanzania in the last match of the day.
Uganda will play giants Zimbabwe on Wednesday.
