Kyambogo Student Charged, Remanded for Murdering Catholic Brother

Nakawa Chief Magistrate court yesterday charged and remanded Robert Asiimwe, a Kyambogo university student on charges of murdering catholic cleric Brother Nobert Emmanuel Mugarura

Asiimwe, 23, was charged by Grade One Magistrate Phiona Angura who ordered him not to say anything because the offence against him is capital in nature and only High court has jurisdiction over the same.

Court heard from the State Prosecution that investigations in the case are still underway and therefore the magistrate remanded the accused to Luzira prison until 29th July this year

According to prosecution, Br Mugarura left his station at Kiterede and travelled to Rubaga Catholic church where he parked his vehicle.

That later on Asiimwe, who was being sponsored by the deceased for the course of Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Science at Kyambogo University went and picked the said car from the parking lot, and that in the course of looking for him, he was killed by the student on 2nd July 2019

Brother Mugarura had served as Superior General of the Christian Instructions Brothers’ of Banakaloli  at Kiterede in Masaka district for 5 months.
