Today morning, Kyambogo College School community woke up to sad news following the sudden passing of their long serving headmistress.
Mrs Annie Tumwesigye Makaaru, who is also a former head teacher at Kashaka Girls Secondary School in Mbarara district, passed on Thursday night at Metroplex Hospital in Naalya, a suburb in Kampala.
She had been rushed to the health facility by her son after falling unconscious at around 9pm in the night.
According to Kenneth Mugabi, a teacher at Kashaka Girls, who is a close friend, Mrs Tumwesigye worked normally yesterday and left school at around 7pm but started feeling uneasy at around 9pm.
Her son, who was with her at the time called an ambulance which rushed her to the hospital where she passed on shortly after reaching.
Her burial will be on Saturday 21th April in Mikyeerere, Kabwoohe, Sheema district where she hails from.
There will also be a church service for the late today at noon at St. Luke church of Uganda, Ntinda, later her body will be transported to her country home Ruharo, Mbarara for a vigil.
On Friday, there will be another church service at St. James Cathedral Ruharo in Mbarara and later she will betaken to Sheema for burial.
