KPL: Tusker to Be Awarded 151M

Tusker FC will take home a total of KES 4.5 (UGX 151 M) million as prize money for winning the 2016 Kenya Premier League title, shop the league secretariat has revealed.

The brewers were declared champions after their 1-0 victory over AFC Leopards to accumulate an unassailable 58 points with a game to spare. The prize money has been maintained from last years package which Gormahia swept home.

The Paul Nkata Coached side had earlier been awarded one million shillings (UGX 33.5M) by the parent club Kenya Breweries Limited for winning a double.

KPL 2016 season ends this weekend with Tusker taking on Gormahia FC and later on the coronation ceremony at the Nyayo stadium on Saturday.

“After the game, Tusker players will retreat to the dressing room to change into their champions’ attire before they return to the pitch to receive the trophy. We expect everything to run smoothly, ” KPL Leagues and Competitions Administrator Michael Kirwa said.

“SportPesa have promised to take care of everything and we have gone through, basically all the activities that should happen on Saturday.”

Nkata became the first coach to win a double for the champions in their 47 years of existence.
