The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kisoro on Monday remanded 28-year-old man Gerald Ndikumkiza to jail for allegedly killing four of his family members.
Magistrate Rapheal Vueni heard that on 24th September 2020, Ndikumkiza, while at Kageyo village in Nyarubuye Sub county, murdered four people including his wife Maserina Mujawimana, 26, his father Sebitama Deogratious, his mother Nyiraguhirwa Bonconsira and his sister in law Nyiramahoro Joan.
He allegedly hacked the four to death using a machete, following a misunderstanding over family land.
Vueni said since the case was capital in nature, the suspect could not take plea and could only seek for bail in a higher court.
He remanded him to Kisoro Prison until November 2 for further mention of the case.
