Kisoro district sub county and district women council leaders on Friday received 22 heifers from the Operation Wealth Creation to help them boost their incomes.
The vaccinated and inseminated heifers were handed out to Sub County and district women league chairpersons at the district headquarters.
However, two of the heifers were rejected after they were found to have brucella.
Lydia Mugisha, head of the Kisoro District National Women Council says they requested their member of parliament, Rose Kabagyenyi to lobby for them heifers from the government through the Operation Wealth Creation to help members increase their household incomes.
She also advised the farmers to take good care of the heifers.
“You should take these cows as your own and not government property. They don’t belong to President Museveni or the woman member of parliament. They are yours. Take good care of them.”Said Mugisha.
Col Deo Kayita, the Kisoro district OWC coordinator revealed that the cows were procured at 56.6million shillings.
He cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the cows, which he said is a punishable offense.

leaders but after the heifers were brought to Kisoro, some leaders in big offices begun attempting to block distribution saying that even the youth should be included.
These leaders, the MP said, need to separate politics and development.
