A total of 32 students of Sacred Hearts Primary Teachers College in Nyakinama sub county, Kisoro district were unable to sit their final exams from Kyambogo University.
The students just found out this week that their principal collected their registration fees but did not register them.
The students reported to the school on Monday morning ready to commence their exams, only to be told by their tutors that they were not registered and that the principal wasn’t in office.
Each one of the 32 students had paid 200,000 shillings; 100,000 for registration with Kyambogo University and 100,000 for the exams.
David Kwizera, one of the affected students, said all the dues were paid to the Principal of the school, one Vallence Kwirigira who was supposed to send it to Kyambogo.
“He also gave us examination numbers and told us they were from Kyambogo University. I cannot understand why he did this to us,” Kwizera said of the principal.
“Many of us come from poor families; our parents have been struggling to see us get an education. Some sold everything,” noted another student,” said Maria Mukeshimana.
Abel Bizimana the Kisoro LC5 chairman says as the district leadership, they have resolved to close the school and launch a man hunt for the principal of the school.
