Kirumira’s Father Exonerates Police, Gen. Kayihura In Son’s Murder

The father of slain former Buyende district police commander Muhammad Kirumira has exonerated Uganda Police Force and former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura in the murder of his son.

Hajji Kawooya Abubaker made the revelations on Sunday at Mpambire village in Mpigi district where hundreds of people gathered during the final funeral rites prayers of the slain police chief.

The gathering which comprised of prominent politicians and Muslim clerics seemed shocked with Hajji Kawooya’s revelation.

Kawooya defended Gen.Kayihura and the entire police force of any involvement in the assassination of his son, pointing fingers at a terrorist group for conducting the gruesome act.

“I repeat that it’s not Uganda police force, not even General Kayihura that killed Kirumira,” Hajji Kawooya said.

He noted that he will not be intimidated by threats of terrorists who he accused of inflicting fear in the country by killing high profile individuals in the recent past.

Kawooya also added that he has got sensitive information for President Museveni on matters pertaining killers in the country which he insisted that he will divulge if given opportunity to meet him at statehouse.

Recently, police and sister security agencies arrested nine suspects during a raid on a suspected terror cell in Namungoona, Rubaga Division in Kampala who were charged with conspiracy to murder former Buyende District Police Commander Muhammad Kirumira.

In the raid, Abdul Kateregga, who allegedly showered Kirumira with bullets, was shot dead by operatives from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) which later president Museveni confirmed in a statement.

Kirumira was shot dead on the night of 8th September at Bulenga along Mityana road as he was going home in his car with a lady identified as Nalinya.
