Friday morning, Residents of Kireka in Kiira Municipality, Wakiso district woke up to shock after finding several shops had been broken into by unknown thugs.
The robbery which is said to have happened at unknown time last night, left atleast seven shops robbed clean along Kamuli road.
It is suspected that the robbers used breaking implements to break into the shops and loaded all the machandise and money they found inside.
They mkstly targeted wholesale and retail that shops deal in general machandise such as sugar, soap, cooking oil among others.
Among the shop owners who spoke to Chimpreports said that he lost goods worth 50 million shillings and unspecified amount of money.
Ms Evelyn Nalunga a dealer in grains and pasted ground nuts told also told this website that all her stock was loaded and taken away by the thieves.
Authorities at Kireka police declined to comment on the incident and referred us to KMP spokesperson.
By press time, Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango had not been briefed about the incident.
“I have not been briefed about that incident. I will avail you with details as soon as i am briefed,” Onyango said
The robbery has however raised questions amongst the locals since the police was near the crime scene and also the prevailing night curfew in the country.
