Niwagaba was elected for the second time unopposed in the elections held  at Kigezi Private Sector Promotion Centre  in Kabale Municipality.

Christopher Mulenga was elected Vice chairperson, Eng. Canon Ivan Mbabazi Batuma as the treasurer, Gershom Ndyabahiika as the secretary and Johnson Bwana as the coordinator.

Speaking afterwards, the chairperson elect Niwagaba blamed the “death” of the chamber of commerce on its national leadership, at the helm of which is President Olive Zaituni Kigongo and her board of directors. These he accused of neglecting district chamber offices while engaging in politics.

At the Kabale event, Niwagaba urged the leaders to work hard to promote and protect the interests of the business community, particularly its members who are represented in all sectors of the economy.

He said that they will put much focus on advocating for appropriate economic policies and interventions that encourage a favorable business and investment climate, and working with its members to enhance their capacity to grow and run efficiently.
