Kigezi Police Introduces Mandatory Fitness Drills

The Uganda police force in the Kigezi sub region has rolled out an initiative   where all its officers are to partake in mandatory rigorous physical exercise every Saturday morning.

The exercise was on Saturday launched by the Kabale LCV Vice chairperson Bridget Asinga Tumwesigye at Kabale municipal stadium.

Asinga noted at the event that 43 percent of Ugandans suffer from non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes as result of insufficient physical exercise.

She said Ugandans need to take exercise as health intervention but not as punishment.

Brian Ampaire the Kabale DPC says the Police officers every Saturday will undergo physical exercises at the Kabale municipal stadium starting from 6am to 9am.

This exercise, he said, will be mandatory for all the police officers in Kabale.

Elly Maate the Kigezi regional Police spokesman says the police force is taking the message of maintaining good health seriously, and that members of the public are welcome to join in the weekly exercise.
