The Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. George Bagamuhunda has announced he will be retiring in 2022.
Bishop Bagamuhunda was elected and consecrated as the fifth bishop of Kigezi on 19th January 2014, replacing Bishop George Katwesigye.
Bagamuhunda made the revelation about his retirement on Monday while speaking to our reporter in his office at Rugarama hill.
He says according to the Church of Uganda canon law, once a bishop clocks 65 years, he has to retire.
Bagamuhunda said he will be retiring two months before the threshold in November 2022.
“In November I turned 60. That means I have another five years; but I will be retiring two months earlier,” he said.
