“Kidnapped” NGO Boss Dumped in Kampala

Dr. Emmanuel Kisembo Diini together with his two children who were allegedly kidnapped last Sunday in Luzira, were last evening at around 4: 00pm dumped in Seguku, by their captors.

Dr. Kisembo told us about his ordeal and eventual release, shortly after reaching his home.

Kisembo who hails from Kagadi district, says the men who grabbed him and his children were connected to security agencies.

The children are aged one and half, and three years.

Kisembo’s younger brother Edward Kaahwa, who was with him at the time of the kidnap, told us earlier that on Sunday evening as they were heading home from church, a group of armed and unarmed men, all in civilian wear emerged from nowhere, grabbed his brother and the children and placed them in one of the two Toyota Premios they were driving, and sped off.

Speaking to us last evening, Kisembo claimed that his kidnap was ordered by a high ranking government official, who he declined to name.

He says this official has been having an affair with his wife and mother of children.

“As we speak right now, my wife is with him. I don’t know where he is hiding her,” said a clearly petrified Kisembo.

From Luzira where he was kidnapped, Kisembo says he was taken to Katwe Police Station where he was told he was being charged with a number of offences.

Family members say they rushed to Kira Road Police where they filed a kidnap case.

However, Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigrie says when he contacted the station, he was told that no such case was filed.

After being held for four five days, Kisembo says yesterday, he was placed in a vehicle with his children and dumped in Seguku where he boarded a taxi to his house.

He says upon reaching home he rushed the two children to Hospital to be assessed.

Kisembo says he is now preparing to drag the government official to courts of law.
