Grief engulfed residents of Bukomero Town council in Kiboga district when a speeding car hit three primary school pupils dead on Thursday morning.
According to the area police, the accident happened at 7a.m when a speeding harrier motor vehicle registration number UBD 455N lost control and caused the fatal accident.
Police said the car lost control due to a mechanical problem and veered off the road knocking dead three pupils who were on their way to school.
All the deceased pupils belonged to Bukomero junior school in Kiboga district.
They have been identified as Ssentongo Moses aged 13 years, Icolidi Ssesangu aged 10 years and Lwanga Fred 13 years old.
Police visited the scene, picked the bodies and took them to Bukomero Health Centre IV pending post-mortem.
According to the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson Nobert Ochom, the driver of the speeding car identified as Paul Mukasa aged 32 years has been arrested and charged with causing a fatal accident.
“The vehicle has been impounded and parked at Bukomero police station in Kiboga district as investigations continue,” he said.
