Four heavily armed robbers last night trailed and attacked a prominent businessman in Kiboga district robbing him of shs30 million.
The area police identified the businessman as Asuman Mayanja, a dealer in general merchandise in Kiboga town.
According to ASP Nobert Ochom the Wamala Regional Police Spokesman, its alleged that the heavily armed robbers trailed their victim from Kiboga trading center as he drove home from work.
“When he reached Kikubo trading center within Bukomero trading center, he stopped and immediately two motorcycles approached and parked side by side,” said Ochom
He added that “They shot twice in the air and one of the them entered and grabbed the bag containing money.”
As they got off from the scene, they also shot at one pedestrian identified as Umar Kayemba in the arm and has since been admitted at Bukomero health center.
Ochom also told chimp corps that police immediately rushed to the scene with a counter force killing two of the robbers and recovered the two motorcycles.
“The search for the other two is still ongoing by the police assisted by locals,” the police spokesperson said.
