Vipers Sports Club host KCCA FC this Friday at St.Mary’s stadium in a highly anticipated encounter. With both teams still in contention for the league title, the game means a lot to either side bearing in mind that the league has only six games to end.
Ahead of the to of the table clash, www.chimpsports.com brings you the key battles in the game between Vipers SC and KCCA FC.
Ismael Watenga Vs Charles Lukwago
Watenga has proved over the years that he is a quality goal keeper and his timely return from the injury has provided comfort in the Vipers defence.
His calmness and good game reading always comes at the forefront whenever the back line is beaten and he is always swift to clear the messes especially in one on one situations.
On the other hand, Charles Lukwago attests to the adage that old is gold. His patience has seen him gain confidence from the KCCA FC coaching staff and has been one of the best players for the team this season.
Lukwago has on so many occasions been a match winner for the Lugogo based. A case in point is the game against SC Villa at Startimes stadium.
Timothy Awany Vs Dan ‘Muzeeyi’Sserunkuma
Arguably the best centre back in the league currently, Timothy Awany has been a key figure at the heart of defence for KCCA FC this season.
His good game reading and adeptness at igniting attacks deep within his own box are some of his stong aspects.
However these will be put to test against Dan ‘Muzeeyi’Sserunkuma whose ability to find the back of the net is unquestionable.
Size doesn’t matter in regard to Sserunkuma but his ability to run into spaces and effectiveness need Awany to be alert the entire 90 minutes.
Muhammad Shaban Vs Halid Lwaliwa
Another interesting battle against two youngsters that have proven their worth. Shaban has hit fine form when KCCA FC need him more and comes with a lot of motivation scoring six goals in the last three games including the four against URA FC.
He will have need to go past Lwaliwa who plays with brains rather than going physical and just like Watenga, his return has been a huge boost for the Venoms.
Allan Okello Vs Taddeo Lwanga
Okello has of recent been the match winner for KCCA FC and has added goals to his game making him a better midfielder.
Lwanga will be the solution for Vipers to try and limit Okello from putting up his A game.
Milton Karisa Vs Mustafa Kiiza( I he starts ahead of Hassan Musana)
3-4-3 system is susceptible to leaving gaps especially on the flanks when the wing backs rove forward.
This will be the battle between Milton Karisa and Mustafa Kiiza. The latter is excellent going forward and his 13 assists in the league this season tell it all but has always been questionable when defending.
Karisa is that direct player who would limit Kiiza’s runs upfront but also try to exploit his weaknesses.
