Kenya’s Kalonzo Gets Another Term as UTAMU Chancellor

Former Vice President of Kenya Kalonzo Musyoka has been handed another four years as Chancellor of the Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU).

Kalonzo was appointed chancellor of the Bugolobi based university in 2013, a year after its establishment.

UTAMU was founded by former Presidential Candidate Prof Venansius Baryamureeba, who also served as its Vice Chancellor until 2015 when he resigned to take a shot at national politics.

In his position, the Kenyan politician Kalonzo is a titular head of UTAMU and as such presides at all ceremonies of the University and confers degrees and other academic titles and distinctions of Uganda.

The University spokesperson Anita Ashaba says the Chancellor is expected to preside over the coming 3rd Graducation ceremony slated for September 30th where over 250 students will be awarded with Masters Degrees, Post Graduate Diplomas, Bachelors Degrees and undergraduate diplomas.
