Moments after being highly linked to taking over the coaching role at Bright Stars FC, experienced tactician Kefa Kisala has in a twist of events opted to move to UPDF FC instead, assuming the top job on the technical bench.
Kisala takes over the coaching role at the newly promoted Uganda Premier League side replacing Steven Bogere who helped the club gain top flight promotion.
Kisala has not been attached to any club since his sacking at Wakiso Giants following a string of unconvincing results the previous season.
Before the Purple Sharks, the former Uganda Cranes left back managed URA FC, Jinja based BUL FC (two spells) and Express Football Club.
In their preparations for next season, the Armyside has already confirmed signing defender Ronnie Kisekka, Ibrahim Wammanaah, Gadaffi Gadihno, Simon Mbaziira, James Begisa while a host of other possible recruits are still in negotiations.
They join goalkeeper Douglas Kisembo and defender Andrew Waiswa who renewed their contracts with the club.
UPDF was promoted to the Uganda Premier League having topped the Rwenzori group in the second division with 23 points from 11 games by the time the league was cancelled because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
