Soltilo Bright Stars 1-2 KCCA FC
Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club has kicked off the 2020/2021 season on a high after a 1-2 away win against Soltilo Bright Stars at the Kavumba recreation playground.
Goal poacher Brian Aheebwa opened his scoring account for KCCA when his 21st minute volley went past goalkeeper Benson Wagima for the visitors lead.
On the 27th minute mark, lanky forward Aheebwa put off his marksman before providing an assist to Samuel Sennyonjo who beat goalkeeper Wagima for the second.
Goalkeeper Charles Lukwago later stretched to thwart away Sulaiman Sebbunza’s deadly free kick for a wasted corner kick. Italian Stephen Loro Mazengo had handled the ball from outside the box for the hosts free kick.
Moments after the restart, Bright Stars introduced Augustine Ghadaffi on for Jamil Nvule as KCCA responded with double changes, bringing on Charles Lwanga and Juma Balinya for second goal scorer Senyonjo and Ashraf Mugume respectively.
KCCA defender Dennis Iguma went on to make a timely clearance to deny Joseph Akandanwaho’s efforts off the line before the Stars brought Kasinde Ibrahim for Sulaiman Ssebunza before KCCA introduced Filbert Obenchan for another goal scorer in Kigozi.
Bright Stars later pulled one back in the 84th minute when Joseph Akandwanaho headed home past Cranes custodian Lukwago for a consolation but the Kasassiro Boys became more solid in defense to secure maximum away points up to the climax.
KCCA FC will host Onduparaka on Tuesday next week while Bright Stars will pay a visit to URA FC at the Arena of Visions a day after.
