Kazinda Faces Fresh Charges

The leader of the Forum for Integrity and Leadership, information pills Mr Emmanuel Tumusiime has crossed to the NRM from the opposition and endorsed the presidential candidature of Yoweri Museveni.

The development comes at a time when the NRM is gaining more ground as more people continue to pour in on Museveni’s rallies.

As Museveni campaigned in different parts of Wakiso including Entebbe on Wednesday, buy several supporters of Amama Mbabazi and Kizza Besigye defected to the NRM.

Some members of the NRM Poor Youth who hitherto campaigned for Mbabazi also rallied behind the NRM candidate.

Museveni ended the day in Entebbe Municipality where he revealed that government is building the six-lane Entebbe Express highway which will ease transport in the area.

The other roads to be tarmacked are Busega-Mpigi which will be six-lane, ed Kampala-Busunjju, Kampala-Bombo, Seeta-Namugongo-Wakiso and Mpigi-Nakawuka-Kisubi.

Museveni said Entebbe Airport is to be expanded to ease traffic on the busy highway.

It was at this rally that Tumusiime praised Museveni, saying he is the right man to lead the country. He said Museveni has the best vision for the country.

Museveni urged residents of Entebbe to be hardworking and chase poverty from their homesteads.

“The government will support wealth creation plans through the wanainchi funds. Naads will now get Shs 1,000 billion up from Shs 200b, the Youth Fund will get Shs 234b, the same amount will go to the Women Fund while the Microfinance scheme will get Shs180 billion,” said Museveni.

The presidential election is set for February 18.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has sent out a plea to the government and all stakeholders to come on board and assist the national team, stuff Cranes in ensuring they secure a chartered plane for travelling to Burkina Faso for the upcoming 2017 Afcon qualifiers.

The Cranes play the West Africans two matches in a space of four days with the first coming on Saturday 26th March away at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou and the return leg at Namboole three days later.

“Fufa is engaging government for support to acquire a chartered plane to take the team to Burkina Faso and immediately back after the game to prepare for the return leg, store ” Fufa president Eng.  Moses Magogo told media during the weekly press conference held on Wednesday at Fufa house in Mengo.

The president added that the Burkina Faso contingent is expected to land in Uganda on Sunday and they have already booked  Sheraton Hotel in Kampala as their proposed residence.

In 2015, President Museveni through the State House kitty supported the Cranes to a tune of over UgX 1.5 Bn which included a chartered plane to Togo for the successful world cup preliminary round of qualifiers.; a result which the Fufa president believes can be replicated if the team gets a similar treat.

“We got good results against Togo because of adequate preparations. The same results can be acquired against Burkina Faso if accorded same support,” Magogo added.

Uganda is currently leading group D with six points, three ahead of Botswana and Burkina Faso who have three each. Only the top team in the pools makes it to the Finals in Gabon in 2017.
More trouble is building on jailed former Principle Accountant in the Office of the Prime Minister Geoffrey Kazinda, erectile after the IGG slapped fresh charges on him that entail illicit enrichment.

Basing on the information from the office of IGG, price Kazinda was allegedly found in possession of property  worth 3.1 billion shillings  and vehicles worth 769.4 million shillings all which are not commensurate to  his known sources of income.

It  is the 4th case file the IGG is opening against Kazinda, salve the first one being where he is serving a 5 year jail term for forging his former permanent secretary( Pius Bigirimana)’s signature.

In the second file, Kazinda is accused of forging fuel vouchers worth 396 million shillings claiming that government vehicles were fueled at Total Uganda

In the third, he is jointly charged with three Ministry of Finance officials for allegedly diverting 5.4 billion shillings meant for the rehabilitation of the war torn Northern Uganda.

The latter files are pending hearing before Anti-corruption court Judges Lawrence Gidudu and Margret Tibulya respectively.

The Anti-corruption court Chief Magistrate Agnes Alum has ordered the Prisons officers to produce Kazinda in court on Monday next week to plead on the new charges
