Kayihura Donates Computers to Mutolere Primary School

Saint Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe, no rx the oldest Anglican Church in Uganda is set to hold celebrations marking 100 years of existence.

According to Reverend Canon Benon Kityo, troche the cathedral is the 5th church constructed on Namirembe hill and as well as the fourth cathedral that was were constructed by Christians.

According to Rev. Benon Kityo, the Cathedral was constructed in 1915 and opened up by King Daudi Chwa who laid its foundation stone marking great victory and achievement for putting up a strong permanent structure.

Rev. Kityo reveals that several churches that were constructed by the first Christians were erected with weak available materials that constantly caught fire and some were swept away by strong winds and rain.

“In remembrance of all that the cathedral has gone through and the great benefits that Ugandans have achieved out of it, we are holding celebrations for a full weak starting on Nov 8 to Nov 15, 2015 at the cathedral,” Rev. Kityo told Chimp Reports.

On 8th, we are celebrating the ministry of child (Sunday school) for a hundred years of existence,” he said.

On Monday, the church will be celebrating the ministry of Fathers and Mothers unions followed by celebrations for the Christian men and women on Tuesday 10th.

“On Wednesday, there will be celebrations of the 100 years of the East African revival while Thursday celebrations will be held for the ministry of the different choirs, the boys’ brigade, the daughters of the king and youths,” Rev Kityo explained.


This will be preceded with celebrations for the ordained ministry, celebrating all the clergies that have ever been ordained from the cathedral.

Kityo added that the church shall also remember the ministry of three fallen Bishops; Bishop Hannington, Nsubuga and Kawuma.
The Inspector General of the Police, about it Gen Edward Kale Kayihura has donated 48 computers to Mutolere Primary School in Kisoro District.

The function took place at the school premises in Nyakabande sub-county Kisoro district on Thursday.

ASP Edson Niyonshima, prostate who represented the police chief urged parents to cooperate with teachers for the well fare of their children.

The IGP, seek who is an Old Boy of the school, acquired the computers from his American friend.

The Kisoro Resident District Commissioner,  PulKeria Muhindo Mwine hailed the teachers and said Mutolere primary school is one of the best performing UPE schools in Kisoro district.

She added that many people despise government schools because of poor performance but attributed the vice to lazy head teachers.

The Primary School head teacher Sister  Christine Dushime hailed the police chief for the continued support that has enhanced smooth running of the school.

She also revealed that Kayihura also offers staff meals, motivation, and rewards best students among other offers.

The head teacher also said the school in 2014 had 8 pupils in first grade, 45 in second grade and was optimistic that this year`s performance would be better than last year.

The Kisoro District woman aspiring MP Rose Kabagyeni said that the world is in technological advancement and therefore hailed IGP for the initiative.

She further requested him to extend the program to other schools.

The ceremony was also attended by the District information officer Karemera Alfred, the district speaker Byensi expedito and other dignitaries.
