Two people have been confirmed dead and eight others injured in a fatal road crash at Kawaala Junction in Nabweru, Nansana Municipality. The crash involved a motor vehicle No. UAQ 539E, Mitsubishi Fuso, Motorcycles No. UFS 111, UEP 598K, UFU 872P, all Bajaj Boxers and pedestrians. The incident took place today, jNuary 28, 2024, at 12:40pm.
According to the preliminary reports, the driver of the said motor vehicle, while at Kawaala Junction from Kazo slopping facing the junction, failed to break and rammed into the motor cycles and pedestrians, killing instantly 02 people, a passenger on one of the motorcycles and a rider, and injuring 08 others, who included pedestrians, riders and passangers on motorcycles.
The injured have been rushed to Mulago for treatment, said Traffic Spokesperson Michael Kananura.
According to Kananura, the bodies have been conveyed to Mulago Mortuary for postmortem.
By press time, both motor vehicle and motorcycles had been towed to Nabweru Police Station pending inspection as investigations into the matter continue.
The hunt for the driver who is on the run has commenced, Kananura said.
