Kampala Metropolitan Police has said the fire that caught Kasubi Royal Tombs has been successfully extinguished.
In a press statement, KMP spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango, described the fire as minor.
“There was a minor fire out break at Kasubi tombs in one of the huts, which was quickly extinguished by our officers from the Directorate of Fire and Rescue Services,” Onyango said.
According to police, the fire broke out at around 1300hours in one of the structures that were meters away from the main tomb.
Police were informed and four fire trucks were dispatched to handle the incident.
“The fire crew reached and extinguished the fire,” he said
Police says that the cause of the fire outbreak is not yet established and investigations are underway.
The extent of the damage is yet to be computed.
“We appeal to members of the public to be calm as we investigate the incident.” Onyango said
