Police and the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) have Saturday, December 30, 2023, discovered a bomb that had been planted at a fuel station in Kasese.

The bomb was planted at a fuel station at Kadindimo Trading Center in Kadindimo parish Rwimi sub-county along Kasese Road. The bomb was found in a trench six meters away from the fuel pump, says deputy army spokesperson Col. Deo Akiiki.

“…a bomb was found put at the petrol station of Byaruhanga in Kadindimo Trading Center, Kadindimo Parish Rwimi sub-county. It was put in the trench a round, six meters away from the fuel pump,” he said.

Akiiki says, police and the army are handling the situation on ground and calls for vigilance, because the situation is apparently not good in his area of operation.

“Police and the army are on ground to handle the situation. Comrades, let’s be very vigilant, as the situation is not good in our areas of operation,” he added.

The development follows a series of attacks in Western Uganda (Rwenzori subregion) by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and the army is currently recruiting local defense personnel to tighten security in the areas that have been at risk.

The areas that have been marked as risky zones include Kasese, Bunyagabo, Kitagwenda, Kamwenge and Kyenjonjo.
