A Congolese girl who was diagnosed with Ebola in the western Kasese District has died.
The 9-year-old girl who had traveled from neighboring DRC with her parents to Uganda on August 28 died early this morning.
“Yes, unfortunately she passed away at around 8 am in the morning,” Dr Yusuf Baseke the District Health Officer Kasese.
According to the Ministry of Health, the child and her mother entered Uganda through Mpondwe border post looking for treatment.
By last night according to the ministry, plans were underway to have patient sent back to DRC for treatment.
“We are now preparing send back the body; we are in touch with the burial team,” said Baseke.
On July 5, 2019, Uganda and World Health Organisation said they had not registered any new confirmed Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) case in Kasese district or any part of the country.
They added that all the 21 people who were being monitored after getting into contact with the repatriated Ebola patients in Kasese district were confirmed negative on Thursday.
