Police in Kasanda district are holding a man for allegedly killing his father in an attempted robbery.
The man identified as Godfrey Senyange, a resident of Kyuma Kigalama B village in Myanzi sub-county on Sunday reportedly broke into his father’s house with intentions to steal coffee.
The police report indicates that he accessed his father’s house, a one Enock Senyonjo, 60, through the rooftop at around 1 am.
He was also a resident of the same village and a coffee farmer.
“When the father intervened in the robbery, he hit him on the head with an axe killing him instantly,” said spokesperson Fred Enanga.
Police said that it was tipped on about the incident and operatives were dispatched to search for the suspect who was at large.
Seruyange was arrested from hiding and detained at Kasanda police station.
Mr. Enanga said that he has been processed and charged with aggravated murder and robbery pending court appearance.
