He paid the tribute Sunday at State House, Entebbe where he received the donation from the Huawei Vice President for Africa and the Middle East Region, Mr. Li Dafeng.
President Museveni was impressed with the performance of the equipment basing on the video demonstration presented. The equipment and related services are valued at US$750,000 (Shs 1.8bn).
State House did not explain what exactly the system does.
The Huawei Vice President, Mr. Dafeng, informed President Museveni that the ultra-modern end to end multi-media tracking system significantly reduces the critical mission response time as it has the capacity to handle emergencies and will go a long way in providing more security to the country.
The Managing Director of Huawei Technologies (Uganda) Company Ltd, Mr. Radoslaw Kedzia, signed the hand over certificate on behalf of his company while the Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Ms. Jennipher Musisi signed on behalf of the Uganda Government.
President Museveni and the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Mr. Zhao Yali, witnessed the signing ceremony.
Huawei’s numerous solutions products, including mobile and wireless communications, ATM, data communications, video conferencing, have been deployed in over 100 countries.
Huawei is based in Shenzhen, China. It also operates in Latin America with offices in Chile, Brazil, Peru and Venezuela.

In a statement, Toby Lanzer, the UNMISS Humanitarian Coordinator noted that since last (Monday) night, elements of this militia were moving around the town, hijacking offices of humanitarian organizations and asking if they have any Nuer employees.
The statement further stressed that, members of the militia shot and killed the staff member of a humanitarian non-governmental organization.
“The targeted killing of civilians by members of this militia should stop,” the statement highlighted.
The Mission also called upon the national and state authorities, ‘in particular the SPLA who have presence in Bunj,’ to protect the civilian population, United Nations personnel and humanitarian workers, and to rein in the militia elements before the situation descends into lawlessness.
The survival and welfare of over 125, 000 Sudanese refugees are threatened since they depend on relief and services provided by aid workers.
“UNMISS has no military or police presence in Bunj and is concerned about the safety of the United Nations personnel, staff of humanitarian organizations and civilians who have taken refuge in the compounds of United Nations Agencies since the violence started yesterday,” the statement read.
