Kampala University Registers First Season Victory Over Busitema

Pepsi University Football League

Kampala University 2-0 Busitema University

Kampala University finally got off the mark in the 2020 Pepsi University Football League after defeating Busitema University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

A goal scored in either half of the game by Kimwero Shamiru and Omirambe Brian paused Kampala University’s winless streak over Busitema who were seeking their second victory.

Kampala University survived an early scare when Mukuba Isaac twisted and turned his way into the box, got his shot away which hit the wood work and rolled out after 18 minutes.

Two minutes later, Kimwero Shamiru broke the padlock for Kampala University when his stunning shot hit the goal post and crossed the line leaving goalie Lumala Ronald had no chance whatsoever.

Busitema tried to push for an equaliser but Kampala University’s custodian Kasumba Francis kept out Makuuba George’s looping header.

Kampala University through Kimwero Hussein tried to double their lead but Busitema’s Lumala Ronald was spot on to make a quick reaction.

In the 62nd minute, the hosts’ thorough attacks paid off when Omirambe Brian’s spectacular strike doubled Kampala University’s lead.

The win took Kampala University to four points in the second, replacing Busitema who dropped to the 3rd position with three points in group C.

Today in the afternoon, University Football League action resumes as Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) plays host to Kabale University in a group A game in Mbarara.
