Kampala Metropolitan Police is investigating a case of suspected drowning which occurred in Kawaala, Rubaga division where one person died.
It is alleged that following Thursday’s heavy down pour in Kampala, a body of a female juvenile aged between 4 and 5 years was brought around Kawaala and residents informed police about it.
Spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango said that the body had no identities and no one knows it with in the area.
“We took the body to Mulago city mortuary for post mortem and we continue with investigations, if you know you have lost a girl aged between 4 to 5 years please go to Mulago city mortuary and help us in identifying the body,” Onyango said.
He also appealed to members of the public not to allow their children to play in rain and near trenches after heavy rains.
“Children should be kept inside houses during the rainy season,” Onyango advised.
This follows similar incidents that have occurred in the city.
Early this year, a woman drowned in a trench at Nakawa traffic lights junction during a heavy pour, also a senior police diver died in Kasokoso as he tried to save a life a resident who was being swept away by floods.
