Kampala Metropolitan Police has Wednesday arrested a woman who has been fond of stealing from men after sedating them with high seductive substances.
According to SP Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, this woman was arrested by police officers in Kyengera, a township in the Kampala Metropolitan area.
The suspect has been identified as Judith Atukwase alias Elizabeth Amanya.
Her arrest followed the robbery from a man, who took her to his home where she sedated him at night before taking off with all household items.
Police said that she has been targeting men of different professions including bankers, lawyers, journalists, medics and businessmen.
She admits to have carried out the crime.
“In her statement to our officers, the suspect said they have a big group including women from Nigeria and other neighbouring countries,” Onyango said.
Police recovered seven flat screens, hoofers, bed sheets, laptops and other items from her home.
“We expect that there are very many people who were robbed by these ladies, but they are shy to report or to come out to speak about it,” Onyango added.
Police has encouraged victims of such robberies to come out and talk to enable the detectives stop the crime.
This crime has become prevalent not only in Kampala but also in other cities such as Masaka, Mbarara and Mbale.
Before the covid-19 lockdown, the suspects used to target their victims especially men from high end bars and night clubs.
The suspects normally intoxicate their victim’s drinks and food with sedatives such as chloroform which makes them dead-asleep before robbing them clean.
