Kampala: Police Arrest Two for Killing Unidentified Man

Territorial police in Kampala East is holding two men who reportedly killed a man who is yet to be identified and dumped his body in a bush in Kyetume, Mukono district.

Authorities said the suspects were arrested over the weekend following an investigation into the murder in which an unidentified man was killed and dumped by men who were driving a saloon car.

Addressing the press on Monday, spokesperson Fred Enanga said by use of CCTV cameras, they were able to identify the suspected car a Mark II number UAR 066B with three occupants.

The three persons included a lady who was released on bond and two men identified as Alex Bamwine alias Kainerugaba Felix and Emanuel Kalema.

According to Mr. Enanga, the men in custody are confirmed thugs who have been luring innocent and unsuspecting passengers into their vehicle claiming that they going to the same direction.

“They drive in the direction where their victims are heading but along the way they branch off and rob them clean,” he said

He said that the suspects have been committing this crime all the way from Ntungamo to Kampala.

Reports indicate that on the 10th January, the duo picked their latest victim from old taxi park in Kampala who was heading to Jinja and convinced him to ride with them in their car.

They drove with him towards Jinja but along the way they branched off Katosi road and started to physically assault him and robbed him of his valuable items.

It is said that the deceased attempted to defend himself but they over powered him, strangled him and dumped the body in Kyetume Mukono.

Police described him as a stout dark man who was putting on a white shirt with black stripes.

“Our CCTV cameras captured that incident and we started actively searching for this vehicle and we were able to impound it along Masaka road,” Enanga said

Upon interrogation of the suspects, Enanga said that they admitted to having killed the victim whom they did not know but lured him from the taxi park stage going to jinja.

He added that no documents were found on him in order to be identified. “We are calling upon anyone around Lugazi, Buikwe, Lugazi and jinja who may have been expecting a relative in mid 30s to liaise with Mukono or our region at Jinja road so that they can view the body,” he said

Police revealed that this has been one of the criminal gangs behind numerous cases of disappearance and already a team in Mbarara is trying to establish more details because they have five cases where a mark II white car was mentioned for having disappeared with persons
