Kampala Court Issues Criminal Summons Against Besigye, Lukwago

Makindye Grade one magistrate Miriam Akello Ayo has extended criminal summons against Rtd Dr. Kiiza Besigye and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago following their failure to appear in court for the third time.

The magistrate was informed today by the respondents’ representatives that the  duo was anable to make it because they were attending to a tight Electoral exercise under the opposition parties coalition called The Democracy Alliance (T.D.A) at Royal suits in Bugolobi.
Dr Kiiza Besigye, buy more about Erias  Lukwago, Besigye’s driver Kato and a one Jethro Nuwagaba are accused of disobeying lawful orders of Kampala South metropolitan police commandant Siraje Bakaleke in June 2015 .

Bakaleke had ordered the accused to disperse from Nsambya sharing hall where they had staged a rally to gather public views about the proposed electoral reforms, and they allegedly ignored this order.

Yesterday, a chief magistrate’s court in Kabale canceled bail for Dr Besigye and four other opposition leaders and issued warrant of arrest, following their failure to appear in the court for the fifth time.

There they face other charges related to civil disobedience which date back in October 2012.
