The Court Of Appeal sitting in Kampala is expected to commence a session to hear appeals resulting from cases which were handled before the Anti-corruption High court division
This session will be running from today Monday to 15th November 2018.
According to the case list signed by Deputy Registrar Ayebare Tumwebaze, the appeals include those filed from 2010 to 2017.
This session will be presided over by three judges of the appellant court; Justices Geoffrey Kiryabwire, Stephen Musota and Percy Tuhaise.
Among these appeals, is one filed by Mr. Geoffrey Kazinda, the former Principle Accountant in the Office of the Prime Minster, challenging the 5 year imprisonment sentence handed to him by the then Anti-corruption High court judge Lawrence Gidudu after convicting him on charges including abuse of office and forgery.
Some of the appeals were filed by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and Inspectorate General of Government (IGG) while others were filed by individuals who were sentenced to sentences they considered harsh and those who were asked to refund the money after conviction.
The offences from which these appeals originate include Corruption, Bribery, Abuse of office , Embezzlement , Electronic fraud , conspiracy to commit a felony among others.
