On Thursday, the Kampala Metropolitan Police raided slum areas around the central business district and arrested over 400 suspected criminals.
According to the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Luke Owoyesigire, the operations were sanctioned by KMP commander Moses Kafeero.
Owoyesigire said that the operations are aimed at weeding out criminal elements in Kampala and the suburbs.
Thursday operations were carried out in Kisenyi, Katanga and other areas in the central business district.
“We made a number of recoveries including drugs, breaking implements and Knives.”
The suspects are currently detained at Katwe Police station , Central Police Station Kampala , Wandegeya Police station and Old Kampala Police station.
Police in a statement said that the suspects will be charged with being in possession of suspected narcotic substances and stolen items.
