Express Football Club striker Frank Kalanda has not been part of the Uganda Cranes set-up since his last appearance in 2015 during the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia.
In that fateful tournament, the orthodox forward scored one goal against Burundi in the group stage fixture.
He had also shone with a brace against Tanzania in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifiers game at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in 2014.
However, Kalanda had deteriorated in form when he joined URA FC and later Soana (now Tooro United) before crossing boarders to join AS Kigali from Rwanda.
Since joining Express FC last year, the gangly forward is seemingly on the right track and getting back to his best.
Before the 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League season was cut short due to the Coronavirus outbreak, he had scored Nine goals for Express FC and was the overall club’s top scorer.
Going into next season, Kalanda is upbeat about the signings made by the technical team and believes they will help the club perform well.
He also anticipates having a reminiscent show ahead of next season return and hopes to return to the Uganda Cranes fold.
“I think the technical team has spotted the good players and they are capable of handling the pressure because this is a big club. We welcome them and assure them that we shall help them adjust accordingly to help the club perform well,” Kalanda told the club website.
He added, “I am happy about last season’s performance which was down to teamwork but for this coming campaign, I want to return to the cranes fold and I can only do that by scoring more goals which am sure of doing.”
Last season, Express finished 9th on the 16 team log with 31 points from 25 matches and will be targeting to better it’s performance come the 2020/2021 season earmarked to kickoff on 17th October.
