The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga has paid a visit on the children and relatives of the Late Joan Kagezi the Assistant Director of Public Prosecution who was murdered on Monday, 30th April 2015. She visited them at their home in Kiwatule.
Mr. George Philip Kulubya, the eldest son of the late expressed his gratitude towards the Speaker, the Government of Uganda and the public at large for the love, financial and spiritual support that has been extended to the family during this very trying time.
“My siblings and I are truly grateful for the love and support that you have shown us. The mere fact that you, the Speaker of the Parliament have come to condole with us is very touching and comforting.
The children however told the Speaker they still felt unsafe and that they needed more protection from government security bodies.
“We are however concerned about our security as a family as we are still traumatized,” said Kulubya.
The children informed Speaker that H.E the President visited them at their home and had pledged to take care of all their tuition requirements.
The Speaker again voiced the government’s commitment to support them. “Your mother was a very respectful person in society, she was honest and we as government owe it to her. It is our responsibility to support you as much as possible so that we see you through your studies as she would have done,” Kadaga stressed.
She further confirmed that she will look into the issue of security with the responsible persons and she pledged to follow up with the President on his pledge, so it would be handled in time.
Hon. Kadaga later presented the family with a condolence token and requested them to call on her whenever they needed her assistance.
