Ministry of Health is supervising 8 people at Naguru Hospital in Kampala after presenting Cholera symptoms.
Cholera, an acute gastrointestinal infection is primarily associated with contaminated water and raw or undercooked food.
All the eight patients under supervision are residents of Kabowa, in Rubaga Division.
According to Emmanuel Ainebyoona the Senior Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Health, two samples out of the 8 had turned out positive.
Ainebyoona added that the two samples that tested positive will be taken to the Uganda National Laboratory in Butabika for further tests.
The Ministry he said had strengthened efforts to create public awareness on Cholera and urged Ugandans to embrace methods of good hygiene.
“As the Ministry of Health we urge the public to embrace good hygiene and sanitation like washing hands with soap and other detergents especially after using the toilet and drink boiled water”
The Ministry of Health also asked the public to report any cases of people that are suspected to show signs and symptoms of Cholera.
