Kabale’s Besigye Keihwa Pulls Out of Race Against Minister Bahati

 

Four people who picked nomination forms to contest on different parliamentary seats in Kabale district including the incumbent Kabale LC5 chairman Patrick Besigye Keihwa did not show up for nomination.

Ahamed Nadduli Musisi the Kabale district returning officer says among the aspirants who never turned up was Mr Keihwa, who picked forms to contest on the independent ticket for the Ndorwa West parliamentary seat.

He was to face the incumbent MP and state minister of finance in charge of planning David Bahati.

Others who missed out are Arodi Atuhwere who picked nomination forms for Ndorwa West, Kenneth Arineitwe for Ndorwa East and Janet Mukunzi for Kabale District Woman MP.

The Kabale returning officer Ahamed Naduli Musisi said the electoral commission did not receive any information about the failure of candidates to show up.

In total he says they managed to nominate 22 candidates for the four seats of Ndorwa west, Ndorwa east; Kabale municipality and Kabale woman MP where 14 were independent candidates, 4 were nominated to contest on the National Resistance Movement ticket, 3 were nominated to contest on the Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] and 1 candidate was nominated on the Alliance National for Transformation.

In Ndorwa west, 8 candidates were nominated to take on David Bahati and they are Simon Agaba, Gilbert Matsiko, Simpson Mpirirwe, Tracy Immaculate Ninsiima who are all independents and Geoffrey Nzaana of FDC.

Those nominated for Ndorwa East include Wilfred, Grace Bwesigye Bekunda, Dr Protazio Begumisa.

In Kabale Municipality the candidates are Andrew Baryayanga Aja, Bob Rubasha, Denis Ogaba Nahabwe, Viola Nahabwe, Henry Kyarimpa Kiviri who are all independents, Dr Nicholas Kamara of FDC and Sheikh Kasim Kamugisha of NRM.

For the Kabale woman MP seat, the contenders are Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira the incumbent of NRM, Enid Origumisiriza and Independent   and Susan Tindyebwa of FDC.
