
Canon Johnson Baryantuma Munono, the Kabale University Secretary has been elected the new Diocese of Kigezi Head of Laity, replacing Canon Caleb Twinamatsiko who died of diabetes last year.
Rev. Canon. Obed Turihohabwe the Diocesan Secretary confirmed that Canon Munono was elected on 24th February 2018 during the Diocesan Synod that sat in the Synod hall at Rugarama hill.
Canon Munono welcomed the appointment and promised to serve diligently the Christians of the Diocese being that he is not new in the leadership of the diocese.
“I am really humbled by the trust that the Christians of Kigezi have put in me. I will work to see that the diocese develops as my bishop too is a developmental person,” he said.
Rt. Rev.Eng. George Bagamuhunda, Kigezi Diocese Bishop also appointed a new Diocesan council which he is the head.
Some of the members of the council include Dr Kedress Turyagyenda, a commissioner in the Ministry of Education, Patrick Besigye Keihwa the Kabale LC5 chairman, Edison Bakiga the Deputy Head teacher Kigezi High school, Canon Grace Tindikahwa the Mothers Union Vice President of the Diocese of Kigezi and Paddy Mwesigye, a health worker at Kamukira health Centre IV.
