Fifty students of Kabale Brainstorm High School in Kabale district last night survived a fire that broke out in their dormitory, burning it all to the ground.
The fire that gutted the boys’ Ariho I Dormitory is said to have started at around 7:30 just as students had commenced their evening preps studies.
Erasmus Habasa, the School Director says that the dorm was housing 50 male students.
He says all 50 metallic beds along with student suitcases, mattresses and personal property were destroyed by the fire.
Luckily, he says, no one was in the dorm when the fire started.
The Police Fire Brigade from Kabale Central Police Station were called in and helped douse the flames but could not save any of the property.
Augustine Nakitari, the Officer in Charge of Kabale Central Police Station says that police is investigating the cause of the fire.
“The cause could not be readily established; investigations are under way,” said Nakitari.
