Kabale RDC Darius Nandinda has been dragged to court by Vanansio Byamukama, the former LC I chairperson of Nyakahita Cell in Buhara Sub County, who claims to have been shot in the leg on the orders of the RDC.
Nandinda was sued along with his bodyguard one Kanyankole and the Attorney General.
Byamukama through his lawyers of Niwagaba Advocates and Solicitors wants to be granted general damages and costs of the suit.
According to the claimant, in July 2018 RDC Nandinda organized a rally for an NRM candidate in the district polls, which was attended by many residents.
Byamukama claims that the RDC after learning that he didn’t support the NRM candidate, he ordered his bodyguard Kanyankole to shoot him.
Byamukama says he was shot in the left leg and that he bled until he was unconscious.
Prior to the shooting, he says, Nandinda and Kanyankole grabbed him, removed his shirt, and rolled him on the ground while beating him up for supporting an independent candidate.
Byamukama was rushed to Kabale regional referral hospital and later referred to Mbarara regional referral hospital.
He says he reported the matter at Kabale central police station under case number CRB 1609 /2018 but no step was taken to handle the matter.
Byamukama adds that because of the bullet wound, he is permanently maimed and continues to suffer inconvenience, mental suffering and anguish.
He wants the RDC to pay him Shs 500million, as special damages, exemplary damages and a court declaration that the RDC and his bodyguard are not fit and proper persons to be in the employment of the government.
