Kabale district is mourning the death of the first Mayor of the Municipality, Eng. Ezekiel Baraba who passed away today.
The daughter of the deceased Gillian Baraba told our reporter this evening that Barara passed away on Saturday afternoon at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
He was rushed here, she says, after developing discomfort on Friday morning.
Baraba was elected Kabale’s mayor in 1985 after working as the Inspector of Mines in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.
At the time of his passing, he was aged 90.
Former Kabale Municipality Mayor Kaka Matama says at the time the deceased was mayor, he was the Councilor of Kigongi ward.
During his tenure, Matama says Baraba was a principled leader and a good follower of the law.
The Kabale district LC5 Chairperson Patrick Besigye Keihwa hailed the deceased for fighting corruption and directly confronting the corrupt.
