Kabale municipality is looking for 500 million shillings for the construction of a cultural village in Kabale municipality.
The cultural village that was launched in 2016 by the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda and Bank of Uganda Governor Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile is proposed to be built near the Kabale municipality headquarters.
It is to house among others a restaurant and a recreation centre.
Emmanuel says the Municipality needs 500 million shillings, which he says has delayed the project.
He says they have begun writing to several ministries and other offices lobbying for the funds.
“When we launched the idea of the cultural village, found out that in our own wisdom that we needed a municipal beautification master plan as of now that we have it we have begun lobbying so that we get funds to do the work,” said Byamugisha.
Byamugisha says the cultural village is not a simple project that council can take on, as they might have to sell off some of the municipal plots and other properties.
