Kabale Municipality leaders led by the mayor Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha on Friday halted the handover of three roads constructed under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development Program Project (USMID), over what they called incomplete work.
The three roads are Bank lane, Keita Road and Nkunda Road in Kabale municipality.
These were contracted at Shs. 1.5 Billion by Vidas Engineering Service Company Limited which belongs to Didas Ndamira, the husband of the Kabale Woman MP Catherine Ndamira.
Mayor Byamugisha on Friday led a team of politicians and technocrats to supervise the roads which were slated to be handed over.
These discovered that the slabs on the roads were not yet dry and the roads were still covered with sand which needed to be cleaned to help them inspect the roads well.
The Mayor and his team found that the roads were not paved in line with the terms of the contract and that the contractor had not laid slab covers on top of the drainage system.
The leaders gave the contractor only three days to submit a report concerning completion of the roads.
Efforts to get a comment from the contractor were futile.
