Kabale Man on the Run After Killing Key Witness in Theft Case

Police in Kabale is hunting for 25-year-old former employee of Airtel Kabale branch in connection to the brutal murder of a 22-year-old Katuna border town Businessman.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police Spokesman identifies the suspect as Rogers Nyesiga, a resident of Kirigime in Kabale Southern Division, and the deceased  as Enock Ankunda who was working in Katuna town council.

The latter was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood in his rented room on Wednesday morning.

He was found with multiple deep cuts and police rushed him to Kabale referral hospital, before he was referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where he died yesterday.

Before he died, Ankunda mentioned Nyesiga as the person that attacked him.

He says the latter was trying to conceal evidence of theft case of Shs 12m, in which Ankunda was the key witness.

Nyesiga, the suspect in the theft case had just been granted bail by court.

Police spokesman Maate says after the incident, police recovered Nyesiga’s known jacket and a trouser he was putting on with blood stains from an unfinished house in Katuna.


The body of the deceased has been taken to Rakai his home district for burial as the manhunt for Nyesiga continues.
